Submitted by John Ince on Thu, 2009-04-02 13:03.Last night the Sex Party election team met and planned the campaign for the May 12 BC vote. We floated all sorts fo ideas such as:
-media events with sex-positive professionals in BC such as sex educators, sex workers, sexual health professionals and sexual entertainers
-fund raising parties with sexual performances
Nominations almost complete
On Saturday March 21, Sex Party candidates and supporters were on the streets of Vancouver getting nominations papers signed for the three candidates running there. This was great fun and hard work.

Saturday March 21 we will be doing a nomination drive for our three candidates.
We need a few supporters to help us get the 100 signatures we need in each riding.
We will be on Commercial Drive and Kitsilano.
Last election this was really fun.

BC Election May 2009 - Want to help?
Four years have gone by quickly and another BC Election is just months away.
In 2005 we ran three candidates in Vancouver, participated in all candidates meetings, and gave many interviews to the media.
We are looking for articulate and sex-positive people to stand for election under the banner of the Party in the upcoming election.
Sex and the Judge
Three months have elapsed since the Federal Court’s judgment in our lawsuit against Canada Post. We have now had a chance to consider the ruling carefully, and report our conclusions.

We waited three months for the judgment and when it arrived the news was good: we won! The judge ruled that Canada Post did not have legal authority to prohibit our election flyer and ordered Canada Post to clean up its legal act and re-write its regulations prohibiting sexual material.

Trial Concludes with Avalanche of Media Attention
Justice Beaudry of the Federal Court of Canada reserved judgment on Wednesday October 17, after a 2.5 day trial. Decisions can issue as soon as a week after a hearing or as much as months afterward.
There were no surprises at the hearing. Both parties followed closely their written arguments that had been filed months earlier.
Sex Party Goes to Court October 15
Our day in court finally arrives. Our legal action against Canada Post for refusing to deliver our federal election flyer is scheduled for a three day hearing in Federal Court in Vancouver.
