SAVY Fundraiser
May 12, 2005 Video In Studios
First, a big THANKS!
To the 100+ folks who purchased tickets to this event. We need your financial support to continue our sex-positive work. Thanks also to the volunteers who donated their time to make the show such a success. Hanging the art, taking tickets, managing security, running the snack bar, and cleaning up at the end. And of course hats off to the artists and performers who were so generous with their talents. Finally, we really appreciate the Video In for allowing us to stage this historic event at their premises. Below is a photo and word outline of the world's first SAVY. The event was fully recorded on broadcast-quality videotape. If there are any video editors who can help us make a five minute video of the event, please get in touch.
The media The media was permitted to attend for the first half hour of the show. About twenty journalists showed up. Here Reive Doig, the event's Master of Ceremonies, is interviewed:
Reive Doig Reive was a superb MC. If he ever wants to quit his day job he has a great future as a standup comic. And what a good idea that he carried a whip. Everyone behaved themselves!
Elaine Miller
Elaine is a popular writer, performer and activist in the leather/queer scene. Hers was the first performance of the evening, and got us off to a great start.
The Candidates
Reive introduced the three Sex Party candidates, but there are no photographs of them because they are afraid to be seen in public. Just kidding. Their photos (and bios) are posted here. Yvonne a John participated in a mock interview "Sexual Crossfire" in which they were interviewed by a pair of sex-negative journalists (played by Reive and Elaine). Patrick courageously discussed his sexual history and the importance of the services of compassionate sex workers to the sexual fulfillment of many disable people.
The Crowd
About 125 people attended the event, the maximum capacity of the venue. Next time we need to find a bigger place!
Krista Lomax
"VJ Krash Hazzard" as she also calls herself produced a fantastic multi-media presentation of images and words, that provided the backdrop for the entire evening. What a talent she is! Hope to see lots more of her innovative work. Here she is working the keyboards and mouse:
Here are some of Krista's amazing images:

CJ Jackman-Zigante
CJ is a comic diva with a long list of credits in film, television and stand-up. She is a powerhouse that lights up a room as she describes memorable incidents from her own sexual history.
Eye Voyeur Agapornis Installation
The installation that provoked the most response in the media, and in the provincial liquor branch, was the video performance piece Eye Voyeur Agapornis concevied by Marcus Bowcott with the assistance of Jan Westdendorp and Bobbi Kozinuk. It features a couple making love in a room which they share with a couple of caged loverbirds. The gorgeous and sexually ahtletic couple, and their avian roommates, are visible to the audience only via a single eye slot. Long lines of the audience formed to step up to the eye slot to witness the hot sexy action. As each individual peered in a video camera captured the image of their eyes. Another video camera focused on the birds. Both video tracks were broadcast to separate video monitors set up in the room. A third monitor played scenes from the first press conference of The Sex Party. Here is a couple peering in the slot and a monitor showing a face:

Nude Photography Demonstration
Horst Siegler is one of Vancouver's finest nude photographers. Throughout the evening he did several photos shoots with several models who generously offered their services to the event. By the end of the evening some members of the audience were peeling off their clothes in front of Horst's lens. Here Horst works with the models:
Dirty Laundry Installation
Another innovative installation the provincial liquor ayatollahs prohibited at licenced premises anywhere in the province is the Dirty Laundry performance piece. Conceived by Marcus Bowcott, Jessie Wright and John Ince, and executed by Jessie Wright, the piece involved intimate physical interactions between audience members and males and female models to produce this work of visual art:
These photos show the work in process:
Here are some of Horst's shots of the models:
Colour Your Coochee
Lighten up about genitals! That is aim of the Colour Your Coochee exhibit. It encourages people to render in images and words their view of human erotic organs. Thanks to the many creative people who participated:
The Tantric Clown
Rolf Reynolds is a sculptor/carpenter and occasional fool. His performances reflect his Pochenko training; every performance is directed by how the audience reponds."If it ain't interactive then it ain't happening," he says. "Tantra is now: here we are: let's go." And go he did, buck naked, meditating on the social significance of the penis. He is one gutsy guy:
Spin the Bottle
A fairy with a strap-on dropped by the SAVY and spun here magic on the crowd. She gathered a dozen strangers in the middle of the room and had them play Spin the Bottle. Lips locked in an amzing number of combinations of gender and sexual orientation. Hats off to those people so spotaneous and free!
Kamiliya
Exotic Kamiliya graced the SAVY with her sensual dance.
Erotic Caricature
Just a few minutes is all Mark Siermaczeski needs to create a hilarious caricature of the folks who pose for him.
When Mark is at work, everyone smiles. Like here:
